I have enjoyed my time in 5303 working on my e-portfolio and developing a good foundation for it. I hope to expand it into the future to reflect my development as a music teacher and as a musician. I have quite a bit of ground to cover there. Over the past five years I have changed dramatically as a music teacher. I spent 30 plus hours each year focusing on professional development that helped me learn how to design lessons and a learning environment that allows my Pre-k students to make choices in their learning, giving them a voice, providing ownership in their work, and doing this in an authentic learning opportunity. This is closely related to the content of of the DLL program I am in, course 5303, and the study of the education model CSLE+COVA. This model is all about creating a authentic learning environment where the teacher is more of a coach and facilitator than a traditional model of teacher. The teacher creates lessons in an environment that give the student choice, ownership, voice, and an authentic learning opportunity that helps the student make strong learning connections. I see as I learn in this program, and as the world and the field of education goes through the dramatic changes it is experiencing due to Covid-19, an opportunity to expand education for my students in a way that creates a more meaningful learning environment to the benefit of the students. Dr. Harapnuik (2017) suggests that the power of technology with projects and learning opportunities can be realized if time is taken to create such a learning environment. I hope to blend my previous work now with technology. I plan to use my e-portfolio to demonstrate this and the work I do with students. I also plan to continue this in my education blogs as well as in my music Blogs. In my music blogs I hope to show my own growth as an instrumentalist, and a music teacher. I have great expectations for the future of my e-portfolio.
