In my course I thought to add a course resource folder. I have worked to make data such as PDF files, links, and instructions for navigating the course, submitting assignments through email, or completing and submitting in LMS available in multiple forms and in multiple places throughout the course. This could be called redundant. However, to be communicating effectively experience tells me it is necessary.
I am guided by district policies in my course model design. I would like to see it be a hybrid model developed. Hybrid learning as discussed by Bates (2019) is students do most work online and only come to campus for specific experiences that require face to face interaction. For example in my case a a music teacher this works well. Students can learn and practice at home to be ready for the learning that will come from the group experience of playing and performing music. In the current situation of Covid 19 effecting us all I must go by what the district decides. Currently we are following an online only based model but plan in the future to move to what looks like a more hybrid approach. In the continuum I consider the course I am designing fully online but hope it moves more towards hybrid model.
As I have been planning my course and working my way through this course I have found many teachers working, planning, and looking for good quality open educational resources available they can use. Bates (2019) discusses OER's as free downloadable content found online. I see these resources experiencing a boom in demand now that many teachers are looking for ways to connect students with materials they can access. I am always looking for these.
